Transgender Soccer Players Now Able to Choose Men’s or Women’s Team in Germany

In a groundbreaking decision, the German Football Federation has ruled that transgender, intersex and non-binary players now can decide whether they want to play for the women’s or men’s teams. Transgender soccer players in Germany will be able to start participating starting next season. The ruling will affect the youth, futsal and amateur leagues. The resolution was passed on Thursday and makes it clear that it is up to the players to decide when and if they decide to change teams. FIFA Accused of “Hypocritical Virtue-Signaling” After Tweeting About Pride Month

Television personality Piers Morgan calls out FIFA for performative allyship to the LGBTQ+ community after the soccer organization sent out a tweet in celebration of Pride month. FIFA tweeted a lengthy message supporting pride while ensuring that they’re working towards the upcoming world cup being “a celebration of unity and diversity.”  The world cup starts on Nov 21, 2022. in Qatar and is one of the world’s most watched sports championships averaging 517 million viewers per game. Being LGBTQ+ is a crime in Qatar that is punishable by up to 3 years in jail.
