Restaurant Manager Fired After Reprimanding Gay Actor for Kissing His Date

A restaurant manager in Los Angeles lost his job this week after he criticized a gay actor for kissing his date. The restaurant has since issued an apology & announced the firing of the manager following a complaint from one of the gay patrons on Instagram.  Actor Drew Droege was on a date at popular Los Angeles restaurant “El Compadre” on Monday, Dec. 12.  Droege stated that his date and him were having drinks with their arms around each other after having enjoyed dinner at the Echo Park establishment. Los Angeles: Hate Crime Rate Reaches 19-year High

The number of hate crimes in Los Angeles reached a 19-year high in 2021 according to a report made by the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations (LACCHR) that was published on Dec. 7. There were 23% more hate crimes in Los Angeles in 2021 compared to the year prior. The city has not recorded this many hate crimes since 2002.  Attacks that targeted people based on their sexual orientation rose by 15% and made up 17% of all hate crimes in the city, 85% of these attacks were on gay men. Transphobic attacks rose by 24% compared to the previous year and almost tied the highest number ever reported.  There was a 17% increase in racially motivated crimes in 2021. Los Angeles: Grindr Robber Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison

According to documents from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, a 23-year old man from Compton was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in federal prison. In his plea agreement. Derrick Patterson, admitted to using LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr to find and rob five victims in the greater Los Angeles area, from June 2021 to March 2022. In a previous report that was released by the LA Times, prosecutors stated that Patterson was suspected of having committed over 20 similar crimes since 2019.  In court documents, authorities claim that Patterson would plan to meet with his victims at their homes or in hotel rooms for sexual encounters. WeHo Pride Parade 2022: Everything You Need to Know

The inaugural WeHo pride parade kicks off today at noon. Attending the parade is free and the festivities are open to people of all ages. The parade starts at Crescent Heights and moves westwards via Santa Monica  towards the Gay heart of the city.  There are several public parking structures in the area. Authorities will suspend enforcement of permit parking in West Hollywood until 7 a.m. on Monday.
