The MTV Video Music Awards celebrated music last night and the LGBTQ+ community was there to represent with Saucy Santana performing at the pre-show and Lil Nas X taking home the “Best Collaboration” award. However, the gay moment that had the internet in a frenzy was shockongly Bad Bunny’s, who in a very Madonna-esque way kissed a female and a male dancer during his performance. While Bad Bunny isn’t out, he has consistently pushed gender-norms in his art.

Bad Bunny’s remote Yankee Stadium performance of “Titi Me Pregunto” and its gay kiss earned him praise from fans. Bad Bunny most recently made headlines for his unwillingness to conform to societal norms in September, when he wore a dress on the cover of Harper’s Bazar.
Another moment from the show that went viral was actor Billy Eichner’s slamming of homophobes and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. “We need to show all the homophobes like Clarence Thomas and all the homophobes on the Supreme Court that we want gay love stories,” he said.
Dove Cameron who identifies as queer and bisexual won Best New Artist.
The protagonist of the night however was Nicki Minaj, who cemented her status as a musical icon by receiving the MTV Video Vanguard Award.
