1 Killed & 1 Wounded in San Francisco Train Shooting near Castro Station

Subway shooting in San Francisco leaves one dead & one wounded near Castro station. Authorities have revealed that an altercation between two people on a San Francisco Muni train Wednesday around 10 a.m. led to the shooting. The second person that was shot is believed to be a bystander. The shooter exited the train when it stopped at the Castro station as the neighborhood is full of people celebrating Pride. No arrests have been made yet and police have said that it’s the first shooting they recall on the Muni train.

22 homicides have been committed in San Francisco this year thus far according to The San Francisco Police Department’s crime dashboard. The killing comes less than a month after Daniel Enriquez was killed on the Manhattan bound Q-train in New York city. The Golden Sachs employee was shot to death in an unprovoked attack while he was on his way to brunch. 

San Francisco’s 52nd annual Pride celebration officially begins on June 25th. However, the city’s gay neighborhood is already more crowded than usual. Authorities have yet to reveal the shooter’s motives or if they believe the shooting was a hate crime. The city’s Pride parade will take place this Sunday, June 26th.
