The Human Rights Campaign Warns LGBTQ+ People Against Visiting Florida

The largest LGBTQ+ rights organization in the U.S. issued a Florida travel/relocation advisory Tuesday. This comes as newly passed Florida legislation may pose a threat to minorities according to the organization. The Human Rights Campaign’s travel advisory comes just days after the NAACP and the League for United Latin American Citizens issued similar warnings.  The LGBTQ+ advocacy group stated that they aren’t calling for a boycott of the Sunshine State. Poll: Florida’s LGBTQ and Ally Voters Aren’t Feeling Gov. Ron DeSantis

As students in Florida return to class, school officials are figuring out how the implementation of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill will affect students and their ability to do their job. The new laws are banning LGBTQ-related conversation in class, books are removed from shelves and state leaders are targeting gender-affirming healthcare, despite the fact that every major medical association supports it as safe and lifesaving for transgender youth. While targeting LGBTQ youth might make Gov. DeSantis popular in certain circles, the LGBTQ community and its allies are undoubtedly an integral part of the Florida electorate. GLAAD conducted a poll among LGBTQ and ally voters in Florida and found that 71% believe the laws' intent is to attack LGBTQ people; 70% say the laws are emotionally damagin...

Andrew Gillum Indicted on Charges of Conspiracy & Fraud

Former Florida gubernatorial candidate, Andrew Gillum is facing a federal indictment on conspiracy & fraud charges.  Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Justice revealed their 21-count indictment against him and his former campaign advisor Lettman-Hicks. The indictment accuses the two of illegally directing funds from Gillum’s campaign to Lettman-Hicks’ private company.  Gillum’s legal defense team denies the fraud & conspiracy claims. One of the charges Gillum is facing has to do with a 2016 trip to New York and the tickets he received to go see the play Hamilton. This comes as these were paid for by an undercover F.B.I agent posing as a developer saying that he wanted Gillum’s assistance with project approvals.  The scandal-ridden politician ran for governor of Flo...
